Seven years ago, Ann and Kenton Smith, two IT executives from Southern England, decided it was time for a better quality life, away from the computer. After spending two years planning and finding the right place to live, they sold their house, packed their possessions and drove to the Andalucian white village of Yunquera to begin their new lives. They purchased a derelict finca, 4 km from Yunquera, adjoining the Sierra de las Nieves Parque Natural, taking possession of 800 abandoned olive trees. They spent almost 18 months restoring their farmhouse and gradually bringing the olive trees back into production, before launching their own olive oil, Yunquera Gold, a premium quality, traditional olive oil (now sold in Spain, the UK and the USA). The freshness of their products means that they do not need to use the nasty preservatives that the large cosmetic companies use. They use as few preservatives as possible, meaning that all their products are as natural as they can make them.
